Another week seems to be flying by. I can't believe we have just over four weeks here left. Bah.on
We have to be out of this place all of next week since someone booked to stay here before us. We were going to try to rent something locally so that the big two could stay in school but have decided to rent a car and go up north for part of the week and then return on Wednesday and spend two nights at my aunts (D has to be here for rehearsals on Wednesday and Thursday nights) before bringing our stuff back here on Friday. Fortunately it's only one woman who will be staying here, and she'll be sleeping in the other room. We'll be able to store our things in the closet of the bigger room (the room D and I sleep in). I'm also trying to use up as much of the food as possible, but whatever is left we can leave on the top shelf in the kitchen cupboard. Obviously we'll take whatever snack things we have, and the container of peanut butter if there's any left. It'll be a bit of a struggle to get B and M's room cleaned up and all of their mess contained. On the other hand, we have quite an itinerary planned. Should be an action packed few days up north.
On Sunday D will pick up the rental car and we'll drive to Tel Aviv and spend a bit of time at the beach. Then we might possibly continue to Haifa (where i was born) and spend some time there before driving to
Karmiel to stay with old friends of ours. I believe they were in Jerusalem early last month and spent an evening with us. They have two daughters who are roughly B's and M's ages and were friends within minutes. Should be fun, particularly as I'd spent quite a bit of time in that part of Israel when I was a student (long story there for another time). We'll be spending Monday at Rosh Hanikra, which is the bit of beach closest to the border with Lebanon. I think I was up there a lifetime ago, probably around the age of 11 or 12. We have the entire day to kill as we will be going to our next place at 6, so we may do more sightseeing. We'll spend Monday night on a kibbutz with old friends of D. I sort of know them, but not terribly well. We had dinner at their house (they used to live in Jerusalem) when we were here in 2009. On Tuesday they'll be getting ready for work and their four kids will be getting ready for school so we'll probably clear out pretty early and drive up to the
Hermon. I've been up there when there has been snow - probably around 20 years ago - but should still be really exciting for the kids. We'll be spending that night in Tzfat with N and her family. D has no use for her husband (well, neither do I) but it will be really great to spend some time with her before we leave. I doubt we'll manage to see her again. We don't really need to be back in Jerusalem with the rental car until sometime in the afternoon, so we'll probably drive down to the Kinneret for a bit before going to my aunt's.
Sadly, my camera battery seems to be dying and I didn't think to bring the charger. Bugger. Luckily I have a friend whose husband is a photographer with a gazillion cameras. Hopefully he'll have a charger that I can use. We have another camera (D mainly uses it) but it's one of those really little ones and my long fingers are used to a bigger camera AND I've really enjoyed using the one I have.
In other news, Year 6s all over England are currently doing SATs. Not my B, though :-)
