Today was spent mostly cleaning, sanding and painting in preparation for renting out our house. Grrr.
D took M and J to pick up some nicer light fixtures he got cheaply on ebay and I left B at home and spent a couple of hours in town by myself. It was such a pleasure to wander around in the sunshine and treat myself to a really good cup of coffee from the cafe I supply (I always get a discount). Spent some time talking to one of my co-workers and batting around ideas for the shop. Also managed a chat with JC about a cafe in town I've been wanting to supply. It went pretty well, actually. I presented it as me informing him instead of asking his permission. Of course, he's going there this week to talk about supplying them with food also, but my cakes are nothing like what we sell at the shop and I don't see how it could be a conflict. At any rate, it all went well.
I also spent a full half hour in the bathroom with J this evening while he sat on his potty and I read him every book he owns. He's been asking for "change you diaper" at least once an hour for the last week and sometimes, towards the end of dinner, he'll say he's done, look really uncomfortable and run off to the back room to take a crap. So tonight, I took him upstairs and sat him on the potty. He didn't mind sitting but he certainly didn't produce anything (the diaper I put him in two hours earlier was bone dry) and now he's playing outside with B and M. I'm certain he'll be stinking to high heaven once I get him back. Yeah, not looking forward to potty training, especially in a house with white carpet and a security deposit we're likely to lose.
