Yes, it's been a while since an update. It's in order.
First and foremost senioritis sucks a lot. And calculating how much one can slack to earn a passing grade in a class wound up backfiring and garnering me an F. So, graduation was no-go, and I'm stuck in Nac for yet another semester. This is good for work, since they are clueless about finding my replacement. This is good for the frat, as I am now the eldest member of the organization. This is bad for me personally, as I really wanted to hop into the next stage of my life. Well... bad isn't the proper word. I'll say dissappointed. But graduation in five years is becoming the new norm, so as far as pacing goes I'm still dandy. Sure, this means another four/five months of very little responsibility, lots of free time, and otherwise just kinda... coasting. Bleh.
Social life sucked a bit this semester. The large classload (damn you triple labs and damn you EIS) and work kept me pretty busy, and what free time I did have was spent in my own apartment, since I was waning connection with one main circle and voluntarily removing myself from the other. However, as a result of EIS I did get to a spend a moderate amount of time with Mitch, classmate who in high school did cross country, in college staffed at a boy scout camp, was in two of my classes, and also liked playing disc golf. And with him John and Allin.
Noteable events:
- Got to hang out one on one with Travis, a guy who plays poker over at Mike's.
- Random conversation with Emily when we were both late to class. It was raining, she had an umbrella, and we both tried to not get wet. We talked for a good 10 mins or so before realizing that there was an overhang like... 5 feet away and we were both getting partially soaked for no decent reason
- The Phi Psi Phast occurred for the fourth time this year, and I once again owned faced at Smash Bros. Got pummeled in Halo, however. Also, slept a lot less than I have in year's past, which was kind of odd. Also very happy Gooch brought his laptop.
- Ditched the frat's halloween party with 4 DJs and a rap group to head down to Texas City and party with all them. No regrets there.
- EIS sucked balls. But I'm pretty sure we got the highest grade out of anyone -- a 92 -- despite finishing it about 4 hours before it was due. Yes, I slept very well after that presentation.
- I need to work on a good bloody mary mixture, and find some way to make em thicker/better.
- People who complain about problems they should spend energy actually fixing still piss me off.
- Orlowski really hasn't changed.
- Went to the bar with the head of the Environmental Science Deptartment and my Soil Science TA.
- As already said, I got myself an F this semester. In good ol' Limnology. So I didn't get to graduate this semester, the family that was coming in got to turn around, and after running some numbers, economically speaking, I'm out roughly $14,000. But I didn't get disowned by the family, and Mom actually found the whole ordeal funny once all the tension eased.
- The graduation party turned random excuse for self destruction party was good. Too many random people though. Way too many. But I did get some very nice time in with Brooke and Emily's brothers, if nothing else.
- Christmas! Party at the office was fun enough despite being the youngest one there by like 10 years+. But oil field goodies are niiiice. Played custodian prior, too. Went to midnight mass with the family this year, and got a pretty decent haul on the gift front.
- About to enter a time shock mode. Before going back to Nac, I want to hang out in Texas City some more -- I miss those guys. And see Alicia. And work at Strake. And see Christina. And see Jeff. And work on my car. And fix my computer. Or at least back it up. And get a lot of shopping in, since commercialism + nac = nada. And do it all without shortchanging the other. Wish me luck!
[Edit - Heh, forgot I made the entry this thanksgiving. Most redundancies removed.]
