I use StumbleUpon a lot, and it took me to this site today:
http://themonicabird.com/post/3273155431/date-a-girl-who-reads-date-a-girl-who-spends-her which basically made me mourn the loss of my reading habit. I used to go through a book every two weeks or so. And by used to I mean YEARS ago.
It bothers me that now mostly what I read is short news stories (Newser) or status updates/tweets or short summaries of things that I don't read the full articles of.
I'm compiling a list of childhood books that I want to re-read, to enjoy fully again. Then (and probably intermittently), I will move on to novels and such that I haven't read but have always wanted to.
So far I have (growing up books):
Holes
Harry Potter
His Dark Materials series (Golden Compass, etc)
Things I should have read growing up but didn't:
Lord of the Rings
Narnia series
More Shakespeare
Things I need to read now that I'm older:
Jane Austen
Kurt Vonnegut
Way more poetry in general
Suggestions?
