oscillation upon the pavement always means an affaire de coeur

I finally saw Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows tonight. While I enjoyed it just as much as Ritchie's first Sherlock Holmes film, loved the visuals, adored RDJ and Jude Law and Jared Harris (who I felt did a lovely turnabout as Moriarty, from benign to sadistic) and Noomi Rapace and Stephen Fucking Fry (possibly stealing the movie with one ( Read more... )

A fly-by comment of sorts ~ I've recently watched "The Last Enemy" on Netflix streaming a couple of times. Very nice BC, if I say so.

"To The Ends of The Earth"...yessssssss!

The Last Enemy was good, wasn't it? And how could you go wrong with naked Benedict? Hee. My only issue is that the Netflix version is a PBS version, so they edited out the cussing for the delicate American ears. Thank goodness they didn't edit out the Cumberbum. ;)

LOVE To The Ends of The Earth. Ben played the arc of that character so well (such a cad and prick at times, but also endearing and eventually honorable). Plus, seafaring shenanigans!

...seafaring shenanigans... Yes! My favorite sort of shenanigans, by far!

I haven't seen the second SH movie, but I know what you mean about the plains being totally different.

But, my god, Moffat and Gatiss have ruined me for all other versions. Benedict and Martin have become the quintessential Holmes and Watson - or Sherlock and John - now. And I cannot see others without their light being dimmed, outshone by what the Mofftiss has created. I'm with you one hundred percent. There were stellar Sherlocks in the past, but the combined force of Moffat, Gatiss, Freeman and Cumberbatch has jumped to the forefront of my list, most likely never to be dislodged.

OMG, Jared Harris is Moriarty? I can't wait to check that out. I was a huge fan of Richard - a highlight of my life was sitting in the second row to see him playing Arthur in the stage version of Camelot. Close enough to see him spit as he delivered his lines! (I'm old enough to have fallen in love with him in the movie version of the same.) Stephen Fry, too? Why haven't I ( ... )

Really? Gah, so jealous! How could anyone not adore Richard Harris? :)

*nods* Jared and Stephen are definite highlights of the film. And yet I still prefer Andrew Scott as Moriarty (though it did take the second season for me to finally fall for his portrayal) and Gatiss as Mycroft. Spoilt, I tell you!

Last I heard, the creative team behind the film is still trying to get it out on dvd. Maybe then, eventually, it will be on Netflix. In the meantime, there's only YouTube:

Third Star (part one)

I've also got an avi file of the whole movie, but the quality is really no better than on YT. Let me know if you're interested in that, and I'll upload it.
