Title: Candy from a Baby
Pairing/Characters: Vaguely everyone in this AU.
Rating: T+ (language)
Challenge: #80 Candy
Summary: Any normal baby is going to put up one hell of a fight for its candy.
Word Count: 200
Spoilers: Nope, are you seeing a pattern for this series?
Notes/Warnings: Basically, I wrote this cause this saying bugs the crap out of me and it fit.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Numb3rs. Heck, I don’t even understand most of it!
But, I find myself sounding like Larry some days.

It should have been easy; like taking candy from a baby. But the thing that the metaphor writer forgot was that any normal baby is going to put up one hell of a fight for its candy.

And one hell of a fight is exactly what Richard Reeves faced when he petitioned the court for visitation rights to his granddaughter. A whole battalion of witnesses was on the ready if needed to keep him from infringing on the lives of his daughter and her family. Even his wife, who had been granted free range to see her granddaughter whenever she pleased, was a willing witness. His wife understood that he had no desire to really see the child (another goddamn girl), but it was one more way in which he could control his youngest daughter.

What he forgot was that as he was teaching his daughter to play every ballgame ever invented and live in a man’s world, he was also teaching her to stand up for herself. She’d long ago learned how not to live under his control and there was no way she was going to let her daughter live that way.

They would fight for their candy.

Title: Expressions of Love
Pairing/Characters: Charlie (Larry/Megan, Don/Coop/Melinda, Alan, Colby/Charlie)
Rating: T
Challenge: Relationships
Summary: Charlie has a “vision” of what love is.
Word Count: 200
Spoilers: Nope, are you seeing a pattern for this series?
Notes/Warnings: A really, really bad Charlie vision.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Numb3rs. Heck, I don’t even understand most of it!
But, I find myself sounding like Larry some days.

1+1=3: Larry and Megan came together to create Alania and a family that is strong and beautiful.

1+1+1=1: Don, Coop, and Melinda with their crazy relationship formed one strong and cohesive unit.

1=2: His dad, brother and he were so like and so different, yet both young men were definitely the product of their father’s love.

1^2=1: Colby and him as different as could be, but one partnership strong and lasting.

Other people floated in and out of the vision. A mother Megan was finally able to share her joy and life with. A mother who was gone but not forgotten as her music plays on. A brother and friend lived on in the hearts of this teammates and friends.

Love comes in many different forms and flavors that Charlie sometime wonders if he should had started studying the math of love and relationships instead of Cognitive Emerge Theory sometimes.

Charlie loved to quantify things. He loved expressions that explained the world around him. He loved the Fibonacci Sequence.

Yet, looking around his house at the people celebrating the defeat of Richard Reeves’s petition, he knew he loved the un-quantifiable people around him even more.

Love was the greatest expression.

Title: A Man Like…
Pairing/Characters: Alan, Don, Charlie, Alania, (Everyone)
Rating: K
Challenge: Alan
Summary: Alan thinks about men and fathers.
Word Count: 200
Spoilers: Nope, are you seeing a pattern for this series?
Notes/Warnings: Sigh, I just don’t know.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Numb3rs. Heck, I don’t even understand most of it!
But, I find myself sounding like Larry some days.

As Alania crawled up into his lap, Alan discretely slipped his beer down under the couch. Alan smiled down at the little girl, “Hi, sweetie.”

Alania babbled up at him happily for a few minutes before leaning up to kiss his cheek rather sloppily. She wrapped her arms around his neck and squeezed, then scrambled down off his lap and ran towards her father.

Sitting next to his father, Don laughed, “So, what was that about?”

“Who knows,” Alan reached for his beer again. “Apparently, I did something she liked. I’ll be grateful when she starts really talking. Makes life easier.”

“Unless she’s like Charlie, then it got harder when he started talking.”

“I heard that, bro,” Charlie groused as he sat on his father’s other side.

Listening to his son’s teasingly argue around him, Alan smiled slightly even as his head shook. Around the room were his now extended family, young men and women that he would gladly give his all for. And, except for the two sitting next to him they weren’t his flesh and blood. How a man like Richard Reeves could turn against his own baby girl was completely foreign to a man like Alan Eppes.

Title: Red Hot Anger
Pairing/Characters: Larry/Megan
Rating: M(ish)
Challenge: Hot
Summary: Megan explains a little of what happened between she and her father.
Word Count: 200
Spoilers: Anything to do with Megan’s dad.
Notes/Warnings: Everyone seemed to what to know what happened between them, so I decided to do this. It is pretty clear canon-wise that Megan has a bad relationship with her father, but I really don’t think it has anything to do with actual physical abuse. I do think that he father is a very cold man and sometimes cold can become abuse or pretty damn close.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Numb3rs. Heck, I don’t even understand most of it!
But, I find myself sounding like Larry some days.

Leaning back against his chest and allowing his arms to wrap around her, Megan sighed, “Alania’s asleep.”

“That’s good,” Larry brushed his lips against her temple. “Darling, can I ask you a question?”

Megan turned in his arms and kissed him, “Always, love.”

He started to twirl a piece of her hair, “Talking with your mother, I just… I’ve been wondering if your father… did he ever…”

“He never laid a hand on me,” Megan assured him with a smile, “but the truth is not all abuse is physical. My entire life my father was very controlling. My mother had no life outside of his, my sisters had to do and be exactly what he wanted, and I… well… I wouldn’t conform…”

Larry felt a red hot heat build up in him as he listened to the love of his life describe the uncaring and cold treatment she had received from her father. As a father, he could never treat Alania the way Megan described. As a man who loved Megan, he could never treat Megan the way she described.

Larry hoped he never saw Richard Reeves again, cause he wasn’t sure he could be held responsible for his actions.

This somewhat ends the mini-saga of Evil!Richard. There will possibly be a longer fic written on this theme to better explain everything later. Most likely it will only be posted to my Fic Journal philleegirl and white_tuberoses, so if you are interested and not part of that Comm. I would encourage friending or visiting my LJ. (If you friend, the good news is that you will only ever get fics from my LJ.) There will be a few longer fics based on this AU at some point in the future.
