Larch Mountain Loop 2016

Jul 30, 2016 21:17

Our official "too hot to hike" hike. The temp was 60 degrees at 10 a.m. and only a dozen cars in the parking lot. The forest was full of high bush blueberries today. Both blue and red ones were ripe. We ate plenty. We coached strangers on the trail how to find the right ones and we brought some home for muffins tonight and waffles in the morning. Yum. Oh, and the hike was nice, too. How can you beat the thrill of marching around an extinct volcano? You see different flowers this time of the year. I've mostly done this hike in June or early July, never the end of July. I'll have to remember this is the time we found all the glorious berries!
