Recently I made a post on Facebook that drew criticism from some individuals. My cat had just been taken to the Vet and besides a surgical procedure, there was the possibility that he had a broken rear leg. And so I made the mistake of voicing my doubts as to caring for my cat, should he be in that condition.
Big mistake. Now the mistake was not mine, it was the usual dolts that are hard-asses. This brings me to the salient point of this rant about the "freedom" of the internet.
Someone said they had all these unnamed problems and implied they were worse off then me. That I should sacrifice my bad sleep and "indulgent" habits to care for my cat. This pissed me off to no small end. Because... the rules of the internet are as follows: If I make a remark that casts doubts on my abilities, then I'm labeled as a "incessant complainer" that nobody likes.
On the other hand, if I explained the reasons for my doubts (health problems and the like; giving details), then I am labeled a "Drama Queen" or perhaps a player of the My-Problems-Are-Bigger-Then-Yours game. THAT is a trap ! I have no stomach or tolerance for such bullshit games. If you are of the mind that YOUR insomnia is real as you had to be hospitalized for it, and mine is (to put it bluntly) not "real," due to merely suffering at home, you are in need of a kick in the ass.
It's a lot like saying you're more sick because you have cancer, whereas another person is not as sick because they only have missing limbs, then you're obtuse. Wait... perhaps that word is not simple enough for some. Let me rephrase it: You are (pick one): Stupid, dumb, lacking in empathy, and most likely have a stone for a heart and a head full of sand.
People's problems are individual and each one of us react to the same situation differently. Some people are told they have cancer and decide to fight like hell. Others might choose to get depressed and jump off a cliff. Both responses are valid.
Your way of thinking is not the only way, nor is it the RIGHT way. We're different, we're emotional.
Deal with it. You deal with it in your own way and I'll deal with it in mine. And if I come across as overly angry, it's only because I feel I've been judged overly harsh.
