Round Rockin' Again!

Sep 30, 2010 20:30

It's been an amazing week here in Round Rock, Texas.  I love visiting the elementary schools here.  I've been coming to Round Rock for several years now, and I really feel like I'm part of the community.  At some of the schools, I do large group author visits, and now, at many of the schools, I also do Writing Camps.  I work with 3rd and 4th graders, and we practice writing.  We find we have a lot in common.

Check out these photos.  At Teravista, the kids wrote awesome letters for me.  Ami Uselman put them up on the wall.  Such a great greeting.  I made a new friend at Brushy Creek -- Emily Kupersztoch is the new librairan there.  And I  got a cool new shirt and hat at Cactus Ranch.  Thanks Janice and Alison!

These Writing Camps originated here at Cactus Ranch.  The former librarian, Lindsay Jones, came up with the concept.  Now I'm doing them all over the country.  Well, a couple weeks ago, Lindsay received an awful diagnoses.  She has cancer, and she also happens to be five months pregnant.  Well, cancer picked on the wrong girl because Lindsay is going to kick cancer's ass.  We're all going to see to it!

Love you, Lindsay.
