My Everlasting Hatred

Dec 17, 2007 22:40

I have disliked and downright hated many things over the course of my life. School, God, Cheating Girlfriends, Girlfriends who break up by not calling back back, Professor Byrne, Clingy Girlfriends, etc.

One thing I hate above all others...

Vermont Drivers.

I may or may not be referring to you, check the following if it applies to you...

1. You average about 5 miles under the speed limit on a clear, sunshiny day.

2. The interstate scares the fuck out of you, so you have to drive even slower than the average five miles under the speed limit.

3. When you have the right of way and you do not GO.

4. You are unaware of how to drive during bad weather, i.e. five feet behind a car in front of you, brights on, and going 15-20 miles an hour if you're the head of the pack, and randomly mashing on your brakes, emphasis on the random (it keeps other drivers on their toes).

5. Slowing to 10 miles an hour by an accident, even if it's not interfering in your path (this is not just a Vermont thing, but it is still a sick and wrong thing since they have no intention of helping).

6. You ride your bicycle in. The. Middle. Of the Fucking. Road.

So I've found out a big reason for this inane and infuriating behavior, a somewhat obvious statement, which is

They don't belong on the damn road in the first place.

Let me explain, I work now as a teller and I run the drive through. If I don't know you and you wish to cash a check, you have to present ID. Six out of ten IDs I get from drivers are Non-drivers Identification cards. It's basically an identification card given to people who are not allowed to drive or own a car, people with DUIs for example. They do not belong on the damn road in the first place.

Don't get me wrong, they don't belong on the road anymore than the people who are drunk at Ten O'Clock in morning who need four tries to get close enough to the window to put their transaction in the slot, or the elderly who are nearly blind, yet drive anyways.

Well, there's my piece, and yes I have finished the hundred book challenge, twice. I am unlikely to finish it next year because of Americorps, but more on that later.

pissed off, vermonters, bad driving, driving
