among the other notable motorways of the British Isles that I have traversed this month.
Yeah, anyway - I'm back in Wales, having missed the snow. I naively assumed that Edinburgh, being of a more northerly persuasion, would be more easily and deeply snowed upon. Alas, fickle fate has spurned me, the snobby omniscient mare.
Anyway: Scotland.
Is a land of barbarians. But -friendly- barbarians.
I stayed with
clovenhoof in his place, and with our combined powers we just -might- have tamed his errant wireless network. And, we went to a medieval banquet in Glasgow, very Arthurian in atmosphere - but with more decorum. There were even some cloven oranges :) It was a nice feeling to be once again back in that familiar scene, then piled into the back of a van for the journey home, among the arrows, shields, ivy and cooking utensils. Kye and I even juggled, after a fashion. The fashion being that of 2 slightly drunk people who did OK in the end. Must practice juggling again....
In addition, during my stay I was also converted me to the wonder of 'Lost', which prior to this I thought was completely different - some sort of abstract reality show. Needless to say it isn't, and well, it's rather good. (In tangentially related televisual cultural news - the next series (or is it an end of the existing one?) of Battlestar Galactica should be broadcast in early January! Maybe not here, but it'll be rapidly be out there, a drifting iceberg of good sci-fi in a vast ocean of randomness.)
Firewalking was also done, although it should be clear that I entrusted my feet to the principles of physics rather than any "powers of the mind". The mind can do cool things, but it can't make you defy physics :)
Other than that I've been trying to grasp stupid maths again, for my maths module exam in January. I'm quite enjoying it this time, as I can concentrate on just the one area, rather than 6 different topics and it's actually making a degree of sense.
Random linkality -
http://media.putfile.com/papillon_0001 And an unexpectedly big shout to the INLAND REVENUE! In a rather surprising twist, they gave me a tax rebate.
BTW - In case you are unaware, party at our house, 46 Alfred St, tonight (I think). Leo and Kyly are migrating North and thus will become effectively Scottish, therefore, we have a farewell party.
