Exhausted
I am exhausted and ratty and weird but it's good - it's the end of Sailing Week and I've watched 20 odd kids from 10 to 22 learn to sail small dinghies (one man sailing boats).
Worst: Getting horribly burnt while sitting on a boat with no shade, feeling helpless while my boyfriend does impressive efficien things running the course.
Best: Taking on as my task the two very youngest - aged 10 and 11, to get through horrible recurring sea-sickness on one case (and the tears that come from being hit in the head by the boom) and a paralysing fear inducing hysterical tears that he tried so very hard to suppress so that noone would see he was scared on the other, and getting them through to the final day where they were both skippering their own boats...
Oh, and also, playing tragic-cool music through the boat stereo on the way back to the boat shed every day and dancing on the back deck...
It's scary - I realised I was old enough to be their mum...
Tomorrow: Adelaide, the test cricket, and an engagement party...
