My daughter couldn't shut up about this guy last winter, and a little while later when I was listening to KCRW's webcast for a change of pace I heard them play the whole album.
I love this stuff, it sounds so ... pure, I guess. It sounds so unconstrained by any need to fit into some genre's conventions, and I love that.
A young classical composer, Nico Muhly, did some arrangements for the album. I hadn't heard of him before, but after some pokin' around I see he's written some lovely stuff, himself.
