Fig Tarts

We got up yesterday in time to hit the Durham Farmer's Market at 8, when they open. Fresh figs are in season:



But they go fast each week! I bought two quarts and made some fig tarts.



We received a set of 6 tartlet pans for our wedding shower, so this is their inauguration. The filling was a simple creme Anglaise with a little bit of thinned fig jam stirred in. Fresh figs were quartered and glazed with more thinned fig jam:




The crust of the shells shrunk down a bit after baking, so next time I won't cut the walls as short.
