Tickling My Gorge

May 29, 2012 23:50

Damn. I just noticed that I haven't posted anything here since January. Aside from the obvious climate change (94 degree heat index now, piles of melting snow then) here are some other, more personal things to have changed since then:

- The most recent afore-mentioned band has gone the way of the Dodo (cest la vie, zzzz...although, come to think of it, "The Way of the Dodo" sounds like a rather interesting album title. Screw it though; it's a hobby for me now).

- The "nameless paramore" and I from the previous post have only gotten closer, spirtually as well as physically. :) I can also credit her, in part for inspiring...

-...my career path now seems to be leading toward elder care, a profession long suggested to me which (heaven forbid) actually threatens to have some degree of life direction to it (oh, the horror! LOL).

And that...actually, is kind of it. I guess that's the only real hangup I have about things going well for me: it's inherently more difficult for me to come up with anything to write about when life is actually good. I'm not complaining, by ANY means; it's just a reflection of my literary background. Poe good, D.H. Lawrence bad (well, not really, just dull as fuck. Seriously. Even when stoned, I couldn't get through "The Rainbow").

Still, it's a fair trade. By the same token, it is for this reason why, even though journalism still interests me as a side career, I could never bring myself to write for any major newspaper: while it may be easier for me write about doom and gloom, I didn't bust my ass majoring in English for 4 years just to report said doom to the general public on a daily basis. Self-limiting? Maybe, but it's the way I feel.

Ah hell. Life is peachy. See you in another 5 months...
