School's Out For Summer

I am confused about what I should do. Something I know you don't know about me . . . for the last few years I have had this itch to start a career in Human Resources. I don't know why, but I do. Anyway, this girl I work with just started an online associates degree program for a Dental Assistant and she told me about the school. I went on their ( Read more... )

Be very very careful with online schooling. You can get scammed out the wazoo sometimes. And frankly that sounds like a program too cheap to be true. Seriously, be careful.

And how do you do dentistry online anyway? I wouldn't let anyone with an internet degree near my teeth. Sorry, that's just me, but still.

lol, no . .. she is going for an ASSISTANT degree which is "hand me that tool" and making appointments and sterilizing the tools, etc. If she was going to be a dentist, she would have to go to an actual school. Well, the school is Pennfoster (www.pennfoster.edu). I have heard of them before this so I am pretty sure it's legit.

So she needs a degree to say "Hand me that tool" and make appointments? Geez. I imagine it would be pretty hard to flunk out of that degree. No offense to your friend, I'm sure she's a smart person, but really.

The fact is going to college--regardless of how you do it--is expensive. And you get what you pay for. That's why private institutions on the whole are more--usually they're better. On the whole, of course there's exceptions. Make sure they're nationally accredited and make sure that the fact they'll take you for $19 is not the only reason you're going. No good having a degree from a defunct diploma mill.

Well, the degree is $900 a semester but they do it as $19 down and $39/month as installments if you can't pay all of it at one time.

And for her degree, she has to learn everything about the mouth and all of that because she is an assistant, helping the dentist/oral surgen, etc. during their procedures. It's a 6 month course for her.
