Ice Dancing Fashion Update

Feb 22, 2010 23:19

I am from the redneck South, so trust me when I tell you that I know tacky and vulgar when I see it. And the Russian ice dancing team's costumes were tacky and vulgar to a degree one doesn't usually expect to see outside the trailer park or the NASCAR cheap seats.

The Russian woman's bodice was flesh colored on the left side with a partial face painted on it. The mouth was placed so that, at a distance on the ice, it looked like her left nipple was peeking out at the crowd. I kid you not. =:-o

But other than that, congratulations to those delightful Canadians for winning gold and those equally delightful Americans for winning silver, both in their first Olympic appearances and wearing costumes that did not require a "some material may not be suitable for younger viewers" warning. I don't believe I have ever seen a more joyous and triumphant singing of any national anthem at the Olympics as when Scott Moir threw back his head and sang the final stanza of "Oh, Canada!" Made me wish I was Canadian for just a moment.
