A Phangirl moment, almost 15 years in the making.
When I was 14, I saw Thomas James O'Leary play The Phantom in Phantom of the Opera twice.
Almost 15 years have passed since then. I've seen POTO 7 times since then, and each Phantom actor was amazing. But Thomas James O'Leary has remained my favorite, both vocally and acting-wise.
After much urging from a few friends of mine, I made a FaceBook account, to go along with my MySpace account.
On FaceBook, I saw that Thomas James O'Leary has a page. I added it, becoming a "fan," so it was automatic approval.
He has a video section, including a portion of POTO clips. I left a comment on the video, basically recounting the first two paragraphs of this blog.
And, to my delight, Thomas James O'Leary responded! Just a brief comment, thanking me for what I had said about the video of him as The Phantom.
Of course, I was immediately delighted and squeeing like a proper fangirl (phangirl?). You see, I didn't go to the stagedoor when I saw TJO play The Phantom. So, this was my first time actually communicating with my very favorite Phantom of all time.
I don't care if it's pathetic. I am quite pleased.
