About a week ago, my girlfriend and I went to a local hotel to celebrate our 3rd anniversary. It was the romantic suite, complete with an in-room jacuzzi-for-two.
First, we ate at Johnny Rockets (the site of our second date). We shared a chocolate milkshake together:-)
When we got to the hotel, Kimberly made me wait in the hallway, while she decorated our hotel room. She lit candles, and sprinkled rose petals around the jacuzzi.
We gave each other gifts. I gave my girlfriend an old Nintendo game she wanted (Krusty's Funhouse), along with some garden roses (which had unfortunately started to wilt way too fast), a solar-powered plastic daisy, lip gloss, a glass rose, and a homemade carousel suncatcher. She gave me a Disney Fairies hair gift set, a Strawberry Shortcake nail polish set (including a nail polish dryer), a Disney Fairies bathset, and a calendar with nothing but pictures and quotes from Phantom of the Opera.
We had drinks and soaked in the jacuzzi, while listening to a music playlist we had both put together. It was so romantic and relaxing! Except when I got too close to the drain hole, and it literally sucked part of my butt-cheek, resulting in a temporary red welt.
There was a king-sized bed. After I was out of breath from the jacuzzi (stupid high blood pressure!) we had drinks in the huge bed, while chatting about random things (I did most of the chatting, because my girlfriend had chest congestion).
Eventually, we turned on a soft-rock station on the radio, and things became intimate. I don't kiss-and-tell, so that's all I will say about that;-)
The next morning, we had a telephone wake-up call from the front desk (because we wanted the full hotel experience). We packed our things and got dressed, and went downstairs for the free continental breakfast.
I had always thought continental breakfast just meant donuts, but this was not the case at our hotel! We had eggs, pastries, French toast, waffles from an actual waffle iron, fresh juice, and coffee with yummy creamer.
The whole thing was truly the most perfect time. It felt like my girlfriend and I were the only people on the planet, for that 18 hours or so. I wouldn't want us to be the only people on the planet all the time (I love too many other people!), but it was a very nice way to feel for a day.
My girlfriend paid for our hotel room; I just paid for dinner and drinks. She managed to get the room on a special rate, but it was still pretty expensive. We talked about the possibility of both of us slowly saving up money, so that maybe we could split the cost of a hotel room at some point in the future. I really hope that we can find a way to make this work, maybe for our next anniversary. It was such a wonderful evening; I will remember it forever.
