Vampire Dream Diaries

The major dream that I remember from last night was set in a world where people who were turned into vampires as children continued aging, physically and mentally, at the normal rate, until they turned 18 (or possibly 21), at which point they physically reverted to the age they were at turning.

I'd been turned at 5, in the dream, and my whicheverth birthday was in a few days. My mom came to visit me at college, and we sat in the "house living room", which was empty at that point, and talked. (I don't know which house it was, because the living room physically resembled the living room of a family we know that holds sing-alongs every summer. Also, now that I think to wonder about it, I'm not sure if my mom in the dream was my biological mom or my vampire-mom, but in the dream it didn't matter. Either way I'm sure she raised me.)

In the dream, she'd brought some sort of alcohol for me to try, "so I could get the experience while I still had the chance". I'm not sure if this is because vampires live on normal food while they're aging and switch over to only blood when they "freeze", or because it's less ethically problematic to give alcohol to someone who's physically and mentally 20 (or 17) than someone who's mentally 21 and physically 5. I poured out a cupful and tasted it, but I was still going "this is ILLEGAL what if I get in trouble" mentally, so it just made me worry more. (I read the label- it was apparently very fancy alcohol that tasted like anise.)

Most of the dream consisted of me worrying about things (and hugging my mom)- one particular quote I remember was "I won't have anyone to talk to- all my friends will only care about dolls and all the grownups will be like 'Go play kickball, dear.' I know there's always the internet, but it's just the internet." (As far as I can tell, we weren't bothered by sunlight, but had some sort of masquerade, so I'd have to go to kindergarten.)

At some point, my mom had to leave, and I went down the hall to my room to get something. When I got back, the living room was suddenly full of people, and the alcohol was still sitting on a little table in the corner, in plain sight. This prompted more worrying, regarding whether nobody had noticed it, or had they noticed it but weren't saying anything, and should I try to hide it or pretend I didn't know whose it was, and what would I do with it if I managed to get it back to my room without anyone noticing it was mine....

There was also a subplot, earlier in the night, which might or might not have been connected to the other dream. I went to visit my friends from middle/high school and church youth group M and A, who in the dream lived next door to each other. On the way over, I saw a bunny about every 20 feet or so. When I got there, A had gotten into Harvard for grad school early decision, and asked me when I was taking the GREs and I had to say "actually, I'm planning on not going to grad school, at least not for a couple of years" and then we couldn't talk anymore because she had to mow the lawn. Then I went over to the next yard to talk to M, who had the biggest, fluffiest bunny of all (it was about the size of a very large, very fluffy cat), but the bunny wouldn't let me pet it, it just snuggled with her dog on the lawn.
