So last night me, Greg O'Neill, and Ian Mason went to see the movie Brokeback Mountain.
For those of you who don't know Brokeback Mountain is a love story between two cowboys Ennis Del Mar (Heath Ledger) and Jack Twist (Jake Gyllenhall). The two meet the summer of 1963 as they work as shepherds for a man on Brokeback Mountain. The summer ends and they go their separate ways and don't see each other again for four years. Both of them marry women and have children. Eventually Jack sends Ennis a postcard and the two meet again after four years. They see each other on and off for twenty years. Ennis uses the excuse with his wife that when him and Jack go off together they are going fishing. Eventually Ennis and his wife divorce and Jack and his wife stay together. The movie ends with Jack's death.
This movie is something I have been waiting to see for a long time. We see straight love stories all the time. But this is the first movie of a gay love story. Our love is no different than that of a straight couple. Why shouldn't movies be made of gay love stories? Ok, that's enough from me on that subject. This movie takes the #1 spot on my best movie list of 2005. Also I would say it takes the #1 spot on my all-time favorite movie list.
That's what I have for now. God's peace be with you all...
