Nearly Died at 9:30 Last Night

Jul 11, 2006 19:31

OK so for all of you who don't know. I was in a bad accident last night. Just a few min before 9:30 last night, July 10.

Explaination:
Driving back from Girdwook, we wanted something to eat and some ice cream, we had turned on to Portage Way and on our way to the Whittier Tunnel. We were 5 or 6 miles from the tunnel when I took the turn, in my truck, at 59 or 60 mph. My truck was fine that night, but there may have been gravel on the road that I may have got caught on. We ended up sliding into the ditch. Once in the ditch I tried to turn my wheel slightly to the right but hit a rock or something that foced me back into the ditch.

Soon after the drivers side, me, slamed into the ground and we caught air. Rotating a good 2 and maybe a 1/2 more in the air before we hit the ground. I remember screaming Erins name over and over and over. She said nothing to me. A grand total of 4 rolles. The only thing that stopped us from rolling even more was a tree.

We were wearing our seat belts, both air bags deploied. My nose was bleeding, alot. I turned my truck off because it was smoaking or soemthing. I tried to crawl out my window. The drivers side was in the air and passanger on the ground. I fell back into my truck and had to kick my feet out first. I remember telling Erin Lester: Hold on Erin, I'm going to get you.

Once my feet were kicked out of the winto and forced myself out of the truck. I remember rolling over on my side and falling off my truck and landing on my back. I hit my head on a root. I got on my feet. I remember my legs were killing me, so was my head. My nose was still bleeding. I remember asking Erin to talk to me. I got to my feet and saw that she wasn't moving much. I couldn't get her our of her door so I began to punch in the windshild. I punched it in enough to slid my hands in and rip it from the truck. I was able to rip half of it off but had to punch the rest of it off. Erin was talking to me by this time. She was able to get her belt off and I finally got the windshild off.

I helped her from the truck and held on to her for dear life. I then carried her on my back up the ditch to the road. I put her down and went back to my truck to get the blankets. I ripped of the back window and threw several things out to get my blankets. Walking back up the ditch I forced my nose to stop bleeding. I wrapped her up in the blancket. She was on my cell with 911.

I had tried to flag down a buss and several cars but they ignored up. A car then pulled over to see if we were ok because we were on the side of the road. Some guys helped us and got the rest of my blankets and sleeping bag and wrapped us up in them. 30 min after the call the medics arrived. don't remember how long we were there but I was pissed. I tried to fight the medics and take care of Erin. The ride to Anchorage was a long one at that. It was an hour at most. I waited in my room by myself for over half an hour. I talk to Erin on the phone and then my twin.

When I talked to my twin I lost control of my emotions. I fought to get free and was able to kick most of my ties of me. I was fine, just bleed alot and had class in my stomach and what not. I was dischaged after I freeked out on the medical people. I was then aloud to go and find Erin. I could barley walk much less see stand. After a few min I found her and staied by her. I tried to find my twin. I called Ali several times to let her know what was going down. Ali and Jen got most of my stuff from my truck, or at least what was left of it.

So yeah, I was dischaged without something for the pain. Erin was out by 1 or 2am. I wasn't checked enought so when I got home I was there for an hour to maybe 2 hours. I finally went into shock about that time. Mom and Karly took me to the Native hospital. I was there till 7 ish. They took better care of me better than Regional. Hate Regional alot. I had taken 3 Tylenal, something I can't spell much less say, and I got a shot.....Yeah I was feeling good this morning. Went to bed and got up to talk with Erin. Went and saw her, borrowed daddys car. Took her to her apt at chyropacter people. Got luch and a movie and chilled at my house. I did the insurance thing and talked to them and found my truck. It's in Anchorage on 68th st...I think. I'm gonna go down to Wittier and get the rest of my information so I am prepared to talk to insurance people.

I'm in pain, Erin is stiff and sore. All in all we are ok. The Troopers were surprised that we weren't hurt more than we where. In a lesser vehical, we WOULD be dead or in CRITICAL CONDITION. Yeah, God had an eye on us last night. So there is the story and that is how it went.
