Am I really running in a half-marathon on the 21st? I joined on a whim, thinking that 3 months was plenty of time to train. I mean, I'm reasonably fit and quite active in sports. I play badminton a few times a week,3 if I can....I do pilates and kickboxing twice a week, and I go to a gym and do some cardio training once a week or so.
I didn't count on my 30-something year old body acting up...I got a bunion on my left foot due to my over-arched foot, because of this I over-pronate and have ended up transferring the pain to my knees.
Last month I had a viral flu and was unable to train for 2 weeks.
I've been going to a chiropractor and a physiotherapist and they've done what they can for me.
Today I roped in some regular runners to help me go for my first long run and try out running in the open for the first time. I managed to do 10km in a bit over an hour, with lots of encouragement and help from them.
Now its come down to the last week...the home stretch.
I can't train tomorrow because of work, so I'll have to squeeze in some running tomorrow and Wednesday.
I keep telling myself I can do it.
I'm totally dependent on God's grace to carry me through the entire race. All my effort can only bring me so far.
