That awkward moment when you see an actual letter in your spam folder that's nearly a month old

This is what the city looks like right now. Like, literally, she just got back from that trip and is putting pictures up. I still haven't been anywhere near the actual centre of the city, but I might start thinking about visiting the edge of the cordon soon. The pictures are gutting but they don't connect together very well to provide the proper context. The lines of demolished shops, I can't tie them into my memories because there aren't any familiar landmarks left. It says they're on Colombo St, but that's a long road, it essentially cuts the city in half. The partial destruction is almost worse because I do know exactly where those are. I haven't seen the buildings in a few months, but I've spent so much time in the city centre that they're still big fixtures in my memory. (I almost moved into a loft flat opposite the Bus Exchange once. I love walking up and down Cashel Mall. I had a NaNoWriMo friend who went to Unlimited and I remember picking it out from the other buildings. It's near a branch of my bank and a Hallensteins where one of the staff members happily talked suits with me as though I don't look like nothing more than a cis female.)

Anyway.

Sitting in my spam folder right now is an e-mail marked April 5th. It's from one of the people on my rabbit lists - way back at the start of April I posted asking whether gastro could affect rabbits and also for advice about Holly's breathing problems and nasal discharge, noting my suspicions that it was from silt dust. So she contacted me wanting to write an article about looking after rabbits in the aftermath of the earthquake... in Japan.

Note, though! This isn't quite as clueless/silly/ridic amusing/whatever as without further context would suggest. The Kei I use is short for Keilah, which is a Hebrew name, but Kei is also a short form of some Japanese names, including boy's names, and I usually am read as and present as male on the rabbit lists. I have no idea if that actually did have an influence, or if it was simply that Japan's earthquake was so much more well-known due to being a) bigger and b) slightly more recent, but it's potentially relevant. The whole thing kind of tickles me, regardless, though I'd have lolled even more if it had originated on the social list rather than medical, since I have much more occasion to mention that I live in New Zealand on the social list and the regulars know each other a lot better.
