A couple days ago, i walked home from work. This morning, i walked to work.
The walk takes me past the
Blommer chocolate factory, which has lately been
under investigation by the EPA.
It takes me past
4Taste, an appetizer lounge that i'd never seen before. Despite being a scant few hundred yards from a factory, it still requires appropriate dress and no hats. I'm intrigued by the concept of an appetizer lounge, and will probably lounge there at some point.
The route carries me over the river (twice), and over the freeway (also twice). The wind threatened my hat when on those overpasses, but it all worked out.
It passes by a few blocks of low-income housing. It crosses the railroad tracks (over old, under new), twice.
The route breezes by the
Funky Buddha. It comes close to the
Chicago Dramatists. A number of diners, corner stores, shops, and restaurants all float by.
Despite all this, walking to or from work takes less than an hour. Which makes it shorter than many of my coworkers' car- or train-based commutes.
I love this city.
