entry:11 'so catch me quick'
Well its been forever since I've written in my real journal. So many things have been going on that I haven't really had the chance to even update on somthing realativly moderate or surcumstancial. Though I've never been one to write short posts. I don't really see the point of saying that I spent my day watching TV or somthing. Seems realativly, singleminded. Actually I've been way busy to even take the time to log onto my journals or what ever, even being without a job. I haven't even been Role-playing much at all. I just have been filling my plate so to speak, and even being a little social. Yeah what a shock. Though mostly I've recently gotten out of a horrible writer's block and began to create a lot again. Between, a webcomic I'm working on some new music and the fan fiction I've been doing (btw if you keep up with mutant Zero the first fic's stunning conclusion should be out soon but really I haven't been around all to much to actually say whats going on. Though like all my entries I suspect its just a little less personal. But I thought I'd give everyone who's missed me a little perspective as to what's been going on... that is if you don't know me on a personal base and not really all to knowledable as to what I do when I disappear for weeks and months on end. With nothing, but there is a lot to talk about here lately so I'm sure I'll be updating more frequently, once my hands heal (see more on it below)
I got a new Tablet btw well not really new I just never used it before.. sort of refound it, and decided with the help of some good friends showing what they could do with thiers decided to give it a go. It's been about two weeks now and I'm starting to really show improvement to the point that I'm actually drawing digestable material with it. Tell you its a tons of a lot quicker that doing it through paper. But there is a lot of benifeits with paper... and like my music I'll be sure to find a nice static contengence between the two. Cause like many things digital just doesn't give you the control that the ole analog does ^_^. On top of actually sitting around and doing nothing Creativily I think that writing (which I usually avoid as its realitivly easy for me) I found that when writing some fan fiction its really helped me get back into the usual swing of things both artistically and Musically. So I suppose what I'm saying here is I've learned a lesson, even if you suck royally at an artform, sometimes just doing it gets that creative juice flowing as it is and helps you start to put things together, and you can get back to things that you love. *shockingly* and with that comes to the point I have a webcomic I'm doing at keenspace.
so now, lets get on with it, the reason I update, rants and the like Well I figured this update I'd talk a little about cinema. Yes, I want to keep this mildly tolerable so I'm not going to on about the crapfest that has continued to spring up like liquid plumber, No I want to talk about the industry a little. As some of you know, I'm a (well not going currently due to $$ ) film student studying special effects, so I do have at least a little insite on the industry as a whole. No I'm not going to complain about myself and being denied once again *gasp* by the TV station that keeps calling me in for interviews *heh heh* No on the contrary, I see all these horrific movies come out, and people are all about them then a great movie comes out with fantastic effects and a good plot line, and I'll I hear is that it sucks. I don't know it bothers me. Take Reign of Fire, as a good example of where movies are going. I actually intially refused to see this film because of all the blatent commericializations on the web and in the music buisness and of course all the "dazzling special effects" I hear people saying it sucked and they hated it.. so I had no attention in seeing it. For the record the only reason this movie was made as I saw it was to cash in on what LotR and the Harry Potter films were out. But like all movies built in hype if its free and looks mildly entertaining I decided to go and take a look. That look -FINALLY- happened today, while I had no internet and was getting tired of drawing and didn't want to mess with music (I spent nine hours editing a loop last night), so checked it out. I have to say despite the hype, this movie freakin rocked. sure there definatly was some major issues with the script, and a crappy musical score. but over all it was some down right good entertainment. I have to say, the opening scene where "Quinn" was a child, the bright colors and candid layout was intense, I totally enjoyed the cinatographer's eye for foreshadowing. From there you are lead through the decimation of the human experiance, and we are treated to a Mad Max meets Toiken sort of feel. I was expecting some elves to show up. The whole prayer sequence was great, and I do believe that there was a lot of camp, need I mention the star wars play. The lines and most of the script sucked. Again that is really what makes this movie though. Christian Bale, and Matthew McConahey took a shitty script and made me rooting for the brits to kick the yanks asses. I personally liked the way they made the diffrences between the stereotypical Yanks and brits and the clashes. The special effects, especially the CG was by far beliviable, which I haven't been able to say in sometime. I want to think that because of the way they used the CG as a hidden element ala the 80's. It turned out to make it more vivid and an enriching experiance. So ignore what you heard, and rent Reign of fire. Don't expect, a fantasy romp.. but if you like appoc films, its a must needed slot in your film Library.
So enough about, films as depresses me more than it should, especially in coming weeks with the annocement that Lauren Lee Smith is not going to be returning in season 3 of mutant X ( a syndicated Tv show put out by Tribune Entertainment) speaking of MutantX there is a lot going on as it appears, with the recent horrid season two that has totally reduced itself to a pale shadow of its former self. Season three doesn't look any better. Rumors abound as well about John Shea, and Tom McCamus leaving the show, and supposedly Seth Howard has been fired. In recent events some members of the fandom has in fact went as far as to start a letter writing campaign which I'm supporting and which will be appearing on the underground site in emass later this week. actually with the underground I'm not sure what I'm going to be doing given the state of afairs of the show but I want to figure out a way to keep what we have and go away from the continuity of the show. but I'm sure my great staff will help me decide, and more on this news as it happens. Right now its just not in a place I want to support (mutantX not the chat room)
Speaking of chatrooms while I'm at it, Ultimate DC Universe on ER seems to be going through major problems since I left two days ago with my hand issues, and I don't know whats going on there. until I can figure out whats going on I suppose I can't really rant, I just think that its probably on its last leg, as I think one of the co-hosts are leaving leaving the room like X-mansion was only five years previous. A placement I'm not sure I care to relive. Though who knows really whats going on there. I want to believe everything is going to turn out okay in both underground and UDC, but really right now I'm scared. A lot of decisions are going to have to be made on all accounts but I feel like I'm looking at a dreadful next couple of weeks in RPG-chat.
My birthday was a week ago, and I want to thank all my friends who called, wished me happy birthday, sent me cards and other such fun. carinahead sent me a wonderful hamtaro stuffed critter, and I don't believe I'll ever be able to that delightful toon without thinking of her, which is a good thought, on my end since I love that show so. Thank you heartkey. ^_^
well thats that... oh my hands, yeah suppose I should show off my anger issues real quick, even us pacifists have problems here. so my flat mate ticked me off. I was on the phone with mellievellie about three nights ago, and was telling her goodbye and hoping her good luck with her visit to Wisconsin, and my flatmate starts screaming at me and stuff. usually I'm "okay yeah who cares" but she was really mean this time so I had my accoustic guitar in me hand and stead of slamming her in the head with it I knocked it against the wall. broke the neck of the guitar. so I got really mad. my favorite guitar now worthless lumber. so I went downstairs and hit the concrete wall til my fingers were running with blood. broke some knuckles in my left hand and my right hand is really brusied.. so yeah slow typing for a while.
I really should do more journal entries. I am just a slacker.
