Concert Meme woo!

Aug 15, 2006 10:12

This isn't going to be super cool because I have not been a big concert-goer, but hey. I'm eclectic, at least.

What was the last concert you attended?
Does Draco and the Malfoys/Harry and the Potters count? I saw them last Thursday. Before them it was probably... man, I think it was the Old 97s back in December, which my lovely and fabulous roommate took me to for Christmas.

How many people were there?
I have no idea. Harry and the Potters was at the park, I'd say there were maybe 150-200 people, which is a ton for them. Old 97s seemed like not that many people, the club wasn't huge and I could mostly see everything really well unless a tall guy decided to stand in front of me. I'm like, really seriously bad at judging how many people are in a crowd though.

What bands have you seen in concert the most, and how many times?
I think I've seen Ani Difranco the most, I've seen her maybe 4 times (and will be seeing her again in October, woo!).

Do you have any setlists? From what bands?
I don't understand this question. No, really. What does this mean?? I prefer when Ani plays like, lots of her old school stuff and does spoken word and things, but that's about it. The second time we saw her (in Chicago at the Aragon) she played "Both Hands" for her second encore, just her and her guitar and it was the most amazing thing I have ever seen live.

Are there any CDs in close proximity to you? Which ones?
I'm at work, so no. At home I know that on my desk are: JC Chasez, mix CDs I have made for danxsunday and notthequiettype, Lincoln, and KANE.

What band are you in the mood to see live right this second?
!!!!Justin. Thursday. WOOO.

Have you ever been on a tour bus?
Yes. But not when there was a band present. When I was in high school one of the girls on our dance team, her dad was super rich and had this tour bus that we used to take down to competitions. It was awesome.

Have you ever partied with a band?
I don't think so?

How many states/provinces have you been to concerts in?
Um... Ohio, Texas, South Carolina, Georgia, Illinois, and Michigan. I think that's it. But I didn't like, travel to get to those places, I was already living there. Unlike some people I know who've gone over 1000 miles to see TMBG.

What bands did you see live the month of May?
Random. None, I don't think.

What CD are you addicted to at the moment?
Definitely Schizophrenic, which I only just bought and have been listening to a LOT.

Who is one band that you used to like, but now you can't stand?
I think it goes the other way for me, actually. Where I used to hate bands and now I love them. I think probably the cloest is U2, but it's not really about the music. I had a roommate who pretty much ruined U2 for me with her craziness, so.

Have you ever been on anyone's guest list? Whose?
Yeah, I'm totally famous. That's why I'm doing this here meme on livejournal.

Last band person that you got a picture with?
Um, none? I know people like, do that. Just... not me. I guess I did take a picture of my AmeriCorps team with this crazy cover band that did all hair-band songs in Helen, Georgia, which is this random Alpine village in the middle of Georgia. So maybe them.

Do you consider yourself a groupie?
No man. I'm a BAND-AIDE. It's all happening!

How old were you when you went to your first concert?
*cough* 15.

Who was it?
Um. Haha. It was Type O Negative. You know, the band that thinks they're vampires? But seriously, Bloody Kisses is like, one of the best CD's ever. "Black No. 1" was my anthem in high school. "Kill All the White People," "Christian Woman," and that awesome ass cover of "Summer Breeze"?? How can you not love Type O Negative?

Which artists haven't you seen yet that you want to see?
I wish I could've seen *nsync back in the day, and NKOTB. All my friends got to go see them in Detroit (NKOTB, that is) when we were like 11, but my mom wouldn't let me go. I'd also love to see the Killers, really really a lot.

Are you wearing a band shirt right now?
Nooo.

What band do you own the most merch of?
I don't really own any merchandise. I guess probably... haha... Harry and the Potters? I have a t-shirt and both their CDs. I have a Tenacious D guitar pick I got at a private show they played in Austin back in, um, 2000 maybe. Jack Black handed it to me. He was sweaty. I had absolutely no idea who he was, but it was very exciting anyway.

Do you ever do anything crazy at shows?
I dance, probably? Dancing' crazy!

What are your favourite venues to go to shows at?
I really love the Riviera in Chicago, because it's small and has a big bar and two levels. The Aragon is nice too, and it has pretty lights that I enjoy. Most of the places I've been in Austin have been good, but pretty typical club things.

What band do you have the most performance pictures of?
Um. Haha. The Go-Gos from the Taste of Chicago in... 2001, I think? Because that's the only show I've ever taken pictures at.

Would you ever get a tattoo representing a band?
Noooo. Although one of my friends has a Slackers tattoo, I think.

How many concerts do you average a year?
Um. Probably like 2? Maybe 5 if I'm in the money? I know, I suck.

Upcoming shows?
Justin!! On Thursday!!!! And then, let's see. Ani will be here in October, definitely seeing her. Maybe going to try to get tickets to see the Rolling Stones, but they're like $95 so I don't know about that. Hopefully JC will be touring soonish and I can go see him.

List every band you've EVER seen live, no matter how obscure:
Ahaha okay. Type O Negative, Ani Difranco, Bitch and Animal, Drums and Tuba, the All Girl Summer Fun Band, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Marcy Playground, the Go Gos, Counting Crows (dudes, it was FREE at the Taste, so STFU), They Might Be Giants, Old 97s, Harry and the Potters, Draco and the Malfoys, Trail of the Dead (I think they played the free vodka party, but I was pretty wasted...), the Three Asians, the Red Elvises, Andrew Bird... I know there are probably others but I can't remember them now.

I'm very excited about Justin on Thursday. You know what song I wish he'd release? "Horrible Woman." Man, I *loved* the bit he played on 20/20. It's so bitter and awesome. I've been reading all y'alls reviews of the Cali shows, and it sounds so amazing, I can't wait! I suspect we will not have any celebrity turn out in Dallas, because a) it's Dallas b) it'll be about a zillion degrees and c) I think all the celebrities that live in Austin are probably in LA for the summer because Austin is way too hot to live. But it'll be awesome anyway and I can't wait! YAY!

Is anyone else going to the Dallas show? And also, has anyone been to the Gypsy Tea Room? What's the air conditioning situation, because I feel like it'll be hot and I should probably wear a tank top, but I don't want to be cold if the air is like, full blast. I guess I can always just liquor up for warmth...

P.S. - I am thinking I need a new default icon. Suggestions??
