Prince George Virginia firefighters were responding to a fire call on Jan 2 around 3:30 p.m. when their rig and a tractor-trailer collided.

"The fire truck had lights and sirens going," said Captain Eric Young of Prince George Police Department. "And was responding to a fire call. The vehicles collided in an intersection at Rives Road and County Drive (also known as 460)."

The fire truck was spun around 180 degrees after impact, Captain Young said. For the impact, it happened at the best possible spot. Another three back and it would have been a T-bone.

The three firefighters were transported by ambulance to Southside Regional Hospital. Their conditions have not been released.

Captain Young said the county Crash Team is investigating, and that the Commonwealth Attorney will decide if any charges are to be filed.

The truck driver was not injured.

well ya know, this hits home because i used to go through that intersection almost everyday and when i go home i still do. I'd like to know how fast that damn semi was going if he made that engine spin 180 degrees. they're not light and not small at all. the speedlimit on 460 is 45 mph!!! i know that truck wasnt doing it because they never do. the speedlimit that the engine was on is only 45 and i know he was doing less because of that intersection and there are train tracks not 30ft from the light. so tell me who's at fault?? Anyways, i dont run with company 1, and i dont particularly like co. 1, but you never want them to get hurt. people need to pay attention to what they're doing on either side. if the fire engine had been a car, they'd all be dead, no questions asked. that truck is a brand new engine, so you know they're pissed and i would be too lol. i live near that intersection so i can say that people fly, especially fuckin semi's. not sure why they feel the need to do so on THAT road but hey, maybe that truck will slow down after that accident. i work in that county at a different station as a volunteer, i'm just glad they're all hopefully ok.
