Lunch Depression...

Every now and again, I suffer from what I have termed as Lunch Depression. What this entails is that I feel hungry, I know I should eat, but either I don't know what exactly would appeal and satisfy the hunger, or that nothing appeals at all.

I know I've gone on about this before on here, and as of late I haven't really suffered from it, at least until today.

The last time I can remember it really hitting me is when I was at my last job in Littleton. At that job, there were times when people would make arrangements to have food delivered from one of the local pizza joints. However, none of them were very good, at least, not worth noting when writing home. Plus, if only one person wanted to order out, it wouldn't make sense to do so, since it would be ludicrous to have just one sandwich delievered. So to me, that option, while novel at the start, grew old rather quickly.
My other dining options? Very limited. Keeping in mind that I had only half an hour to obtain food and eat it, the radius within which to obtain said food and come back with enough time to eat it was rather, well, short. Within that radius, there were two feasible options: Subway and the local market, which had a halfway decent salad bar. In the opposite direction was a small general store that had a deli in it, and they did make good sandwiches. However, it took a little longer to drive there, wait until the sandwich was made, and then head back. About two thirds of my break was taken up with just that.
So that left bringing my lunch every day, which, while a very viable option, did little to really satisfy that hunger, as I only had thirty minutes, and the break was shared with other folks who also needed to use the microwave and/or hogged the kitchen area where the lunch would be stored. More time taken away.
So as you can see, while my meager lunchbreak was a welcome oasis in time during those dreaded days at that job, true refreshment was not at hand.

Now, fast forward, if you will, to my current job. More fridge space, more microwaves, one hour lunch break that isn't on any set schedule. Sounds better, right? Well it gets even more likeable. My options, apart from bringing leftovers: Subway, McDonald's, Boston Market, Panera, Papa Gino's, Longhorn, Wendy's, Quizno's, 99, a Chinese place, one Indian takeout joint, and a market. And that's just in one direction, before I hit 495. If I go the other way, I got two pizza joints, one BBQ, and a Thai joint.
You would think with all that variety around me, I'd be able to choose something, right?
Not exactly.

Oh well... better find something else I'll get a headache and be all cross for the rest of the day...
