i haven't applied for any jobs yet (aside from the one on craigslist that i think ended up being a spam thing because now i get "l_schalk_resume" spams...)
BUT
i just got an email from a cool design firm saying that they would like me to send them my portfolio!!! i guess they're looking for a designer and my teacher recommended me :)
sooo, i'm super excited about it, but at the same time nervous. who knows if i'd actually get the job, but part of me would feel a little sad about leaving here. it's a little like when i quit the theater though. the firm that emailed me works with bigger clients and i'd probably get to do more design work.
anyway, i'll send them my stuff late tonight or tomorrow, once i have time to fine-tune my portfolio a little bit.

this weekend was good.
saturday, jake and i were inspired again by the mushroom table and after checking out the zine symposium for a bit went to mt. hood in search of huckleberries and lobster mushrooms.
we went to our secret huckleberry heaven place we found a month ago and there were sooo many berries. it was awesome. we spent 4 hours picking and got about 8 lbs. there were still a ton left and we didn't cover more than probably 50 square feet!! at one point we figured we better start heading back to the car because we thought we were deep in the woods, but we were only a little bit away from where we started. i dried about 1/16th of what we got, but i think i dried them too long and they're more dehydrated than i wanted. hopefully i can stick them in a baggie and they'll juice up a bit. we're going to freeze a bunch of the rest, make jam/jelly and then maybe make some into a crisp/cobbler while they're still freshish. yummmmm.
sunday was the bridge pedal. super crowded. we bailed out before the ross island to avoid having to walk like 12 blocks. we caught back up with the group at the burnside and rode the last half before they shut down the fremont bridge. it would have been cool to ride over the markham bridge, but i think in order to actually ride over it (instead of walk bikes) we'd have had to start an hour earlier.
after we got home and took a nap we went and got camping supplies for next weekend. i'm really excited for that trip too.
i'm going to go get a banana to eat.
