A Week In the Bayou, Day 6(b), May 6, 2008: Laura Plantation
After the swamp tour on May 6, I drove to one of the nearby historic plantations to take a tour. Laura Plantation is particularly interesting because it was a Creole plantation. A Week In the Bayou, Day 6(a): May 6, 2008 Swamp Tour
It's time to start posting photos from my last full day in Louisiana. I managed to pack a lot into that day! First I drove out of the city to experience a swamp tour. This was great fun. A Week In the Bayout, Day 5(b): May 5, 2008
Finally I'm posting more photos of my trip to New Orleans. These start immediately after my visit to the cemetery that morning. From there I headed away from the Quarter into the non-tourist part of the city. Here, the damage from Hurricane Katrina was still apparent. A Week In the Bayou, Day 5(a): May 5, 2008
I spent part of the morning of May 5 in a cemetery. New Orleans cemeteries are distinctive. The graves are built above ground, because the land is so low. Some have wrought-iron or cast-iron fences around them. A Week In the Bayou, Day 4(b): May 4, 2008
And here are some more photos for May 4. (I have dozens of others, but enough is enough.) This was my day to wander around the French Quarter and get oriented. I was so busy I didn't have time for dinner, and had to quickly grab an order of beignets at an outdoor cafe with live Dixieland jazz. Rough life.
