Have you voted today?
If you live in Virginia and you're a Democrat, please remember there's a Democratic Primary today, Tuesday, June 11, for Virginia's Lieutenant Governor (
Ralph Northam or
Aneesh Chopra) and Attorney General (
Mark Herring or
Justin Fairfax). All four are great candidates, but that doesn't make the outcome any less important. I've linked their names to their campaign sites, if you want to review their backgrounds and views. Some districts have candidates running in other races, as well.
There is no Republican Primary in Alexandria, though other jurisdictions might have one.
Polls are open 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. throughout the state. Here in Alexandria, vote at your regular precinct polling place, with one exception: If you normally vote at
Chinquapin Rec Center, you'll vote today at the First Baptist Church at 2932 King Street, due to renovation work at the rec center.
I went to the polls myself, at prime rush-hour voting time, and a grant total of 50 people had voted so far at my highly active, unusually politically savvy
George Washington Middle School precinct. And that was higher than expected. So you can imagine how sparse voter turnout must be at other precincts. The registrars are bored and lonely. If you live in Virginia and are a Democrat, go to your regular polling place and VOTE in today's Democratic primary!

Alexandria Board of Elections page on the city government website, or the
