A Tae Kwon Do Uniform You Can Eat

Jan 20, 2012 23:30

The light saber cake I baked last weekend (see the previous entry) was for Jon Morgan's actual tenth birthday, on Monday. My mom came over that day and we went out for pizza. Then we returned home for light saber cake and presents. That was the family party. Tomorrow is the kids' party.

It's at Master Yang's Tae Kwon Do studio, so I'm going with a Tae Kwon Do theme for this one. The cake is shaped like a Tae Kwon Do uniform, complete with belt. Or, at least, it will be. First I have to decorate it.

I made fondant and finished baking the cake today. And I've just cut up the various pieces of the cake, stuck them together, and spread them with a "crumb layer" of frosting. Most of the cake is chocolate, but one sleeve is yellow cake. It will all be covered with the white fondant uniform, so it won't matter what color it is underneath. Tomorrow morning I'll roll out the fondant, wrap the cake with it, and decorate it to look (I hope) like a Tae Kwon Do uniform.

I'll post photos when the cake is finished.

tae kwon do, birthdays, cutie pie
