But since that episode of Arrested Development, I've never quite been able to say those words without snorting a little.
Isn't it always the case that, on days that you have windsurfing planned, it's pissing bucketing pouring just VOMITING rain from like, ten in the morning? And then when you have umpiring you want desperately to end, the clouds part and the skies are blue? And then, when it finally does end? And you're togged up to go lounge off the day's hard work in a pool? IT STARTS TO RAIN AGAIN?
Well okay, maybe it's not always the case, but it's certainly happened once more than it should've!
I suppose I should be grateful - that rain probably saved me from having to split my focus today between keeping rowdy males in line (easier than it sounds) and dealing with jellyfish crotch. Yes, yes, bound to happen sooner or later, joke about promiscuity, crack about my wicked ways. Get it out of your system.
Seriously, the waters in the east are disgusting, and teeming with stinging jellyfish. I mean, I suppose I've always known this? But my experience with the east side has heretofore been limited to the couple of times I've been sailing there. And if you're spending most of your time in the water while sailing, you might want to check that you've plugged the drain hole - ye-ah! That's what she sa - sorry, sorry.
Anyway. In-keeping with the trend of weird and gross things to be found in the east (oh, you know it's true), JELLYFISH EVERYWHERE. D'ya know, they reproduce by releasing their sperm out into the water? OH MY GOD, JELLYFISH SPERM EVERYWHERE. That skin is gonna have to come off now.
Bottom line is... don't windsu - don't go to the ea - don't... hell, don't swim in Singapore waters. It's very painful, trying to enjoy water sports while being acutely aware that you're soaking in what is essentially a big toilet. And I know fish poo isn't limited to the waters here, but you'll find it's easier to delude yourself when the water doesn't actually look like algae soup.
I'm so tired from umpiring. And I have teaching tomorrow! Why can't I just realise my lifelong ambition and inherit a lot of money!? SACK UP, MOM.
ETA: The LJ is almost up - it's just taking way longer than I expected to transfer 5 years of archives. In the meantime, have you signed up for your LJ yet?!
