Nathan took a seat behind his desk with a deep sigh. Heidi and the boys were already on the way to Nantucket and away from danger. They had most likely already landed. All he wanted now, was to get on the helicopter that would take him away from the imminent disaster. The further away he was from the explosion, the better. He would be the one to lead a nation, to get them through this tragedy.
Nathan looked up at Claire, who stood in front of him. "I know that it's hard to understand" he said softly, almost as if he were heartbroken himself. "Why this needs to be done. But it the way things have to be. We can't change the future. Nobody can."
