Most awesome Final Fantasy Races, (Not at all biased by the order in which I love the games... /sarcasm):
1. Genomes. This race plus a certain character owned by Marvel were a good chunk of me realizing why I thought tails were awesome. And when your two biggest members of your genetically engineered race are Minato and Ed, you're bound to cause me to fall into a trance of "Maybe Garland had a few goods points in trying to take over a world (Of course)"
2. Burmecians. Pretty much the other reason beyond Genomes and a mutant that I like tails. And I feel sorry that the story gets dropped so soon. Besides all the named ones have awesome stories. Like how Fratley went all Bad Wolf to protect Moya from the Nebari then the Doctor accidentally wiped too much of his memory... Wait? That never happened? I could've sworn that's why he's an amnesiac. Then what about Puck living up to his name and accidentally spreading an aphrodisiac in the conference of Nobles. He scarred me for life with that. Um... the time when Zidane and Ed were fighting Homonculi and... All right, so I make up about half the stories, but still, dammit Squenix! Burmecians were awesome!
3. Spoony Bards. Not a race, pre se, but Gil's awesome enough to count as his own race. -Insert overused meme of > (3^2) * (10^3) here-
4. Fayth. A job where you get to sleep all day and have weird dreams? Sign me up.
I remember having the list in my head with 10, but I can't remember anything other than the top two sots were the first two covered.
ETA: 5. Lunarians. Those Neutral chessmasters who upgrade no less than two of the cast (All of them if you're using the GBA version. Just one if you're using any other and discount After Years)
6. All those guys with Highwind in their name. So beyond a big "Kinda sorta not really a" maybe on the two of them, there isn't a real connection between them beyond having "Highwind" as a last (Or in the case of King Tycoon, middle) name, but they are associated with Air, (Most often by jumping, but Ricard and Tycoon seemed more to fancy Dragons instead) always get some heartbreaking things (Whether dying, disappearing for 19 years by one's darkside which allowed him to be controlled, not getting to go to space until he absolutely had to, losing the firstborn daughter to pirates...) and, well, generally pull me in.
