I've been thinking lately about terror. Especially after a conversation with my roommate last night. She is right on.
It's not just about hurting people and pain and destruction and loss of life, although of course it's that. It's not just making me feel unsafe, in my home, on a street I walked down almost very day for a year. Bought candy in that store in the background of a photo that I can't look at closely. It's more than an attack on guests in my home, the travelers and students, although sometimes they are forgotten. Terror is also about this. It's about racism. It's about fostering a climate of vigilante justice and eating our own.
Terror does not give you permission to terrorize.
