Pleasant news out of baseball this afternoon:
Crosby, as expected, takes home the AL ROY of the year honors. The boy hit one less HR than Derek Jeter and had a perfectly decent line once you moved away from that BA; he played fine and occaisionally spectacular
Superboy defense, and really, I know that I already have too much green-and-gold in my wardrobe and I already have a Yankees CROSBY 19 shirt, but I may have to get a Bobby one.
Less pleasant news out of baseball this afternoon: If you look at the link up there, you'll see a MLB radio interview with Mychael Urban, the beat writer who's done the A's for a long-ass time and is writing
the literary event of my 2005. Urban says that Hudson has told him that he's not interested in giving the hometown discount and is, furthermore, looking for something in the neighborhood of 4/$50.
It's a totally reasonable amount for a pitcher like Hudson, and who knows if Hudson is just gaming Beane, but man. :| Urban lays out a good case for why the A's would be interested in trading Hudson this year even if a total extension talk meltdown doesn't happen.

Depressing-for-me-baseball-fact of the afternoon winter: Paul Wilson led the Reds pitching staff with 11 wins and an ERA of 4.36.
