I just took a German placement test at the Goethe Institut website. B1 baby! Apparently studying German for five months has made me a really good guesser. At the B1 level je peux:
The Goethe Institut website is only in French or German. Altavista Babelfish did not help me out at all. So...I suppose all that time I've spent on German wasn't wasted. Back to studying for tomorrow...
- comprendre les points essentiels quand un langage clair et standard est utilisé et s'il s'agit de choses familières dans le travail, à l'école, dans les loisirs, etc. (understand basic German conversation when standard, clear German is used).
- se débrouiller dans la plupart des situations rencontrées en voyage dans une région où la langue cible est parlée. (Get through most situations encountered during a trip to Germany)
- produire un discours simple et cohérent sur des sujets familiers et dans ses domaines d'intérêt. (Have a simple conversation about well-known subjects and areas of interest).
- raconter un événement, une expérience ou un rêve, décrire un espoir ou un but et exposer brièvement des raisons ou explications pour un projet ou une idée. (Recount an event, experience or a dream, describe a hope or a goal and briefly explain the reasons or ideas for a project or idea).
