To be honest I have always been extremely against CC ever since those ads that said "Forget about the sentimental value - think about the instant cash value!" You have no idea how much I hated those ads >.>

However, I don't think people are really going to go into CC just because they got a hot date and they need some money fast XD If they are then I think they have a bigger problem than lack of money - like lack of common sense.

Australia does have extreme debt issues that seriously need to be addressed though, and a constant focus on "keeping up appearances" doesn't help at all. I really think though that these issues need to be looked at at a younger age - like taking money management in high school, or even in primary just when children really start to get demanding. Basically, I think that being taught how to PLAN and not just live by the moment when it comes to money is really important and something that a lot of Australians don't think about. But, I also think that people tend to save more for little and seemingly unnecessary things as opposed to the big things is because the big things (likes cars and houses) just seem so damn unattainable. Like... Jo is one of the best savers I have ever seen - in only a year and on a graduate trainee wage she has really done well. But she's done the math and there is like no practical way she can afford a normal house without a bloody 40 year mortage. It's ridiculous. I know I've gone off on a tangent, but I think that a lot of people have given up on being happy in the long term and are concentrating more on being happy now. I'm not saying that's a good thing, but I think it will take a big change for people to change their way of thinking, and for loan schemes in Australia to improve.

And that's my 2c! XD
