I wanted to write this same thing a long time ago. Okay, I mean the main idea in this piece: that fashion is a language. The same applies to many social behaviors/rituals. There are agreed common meanings of some things -- you can't simply ingore them and then complain about being misunderstood. Have really nothing to add to Greta's well thought analysis.
