Social Etiquette Inquiry
I suspect that there is just NO acceptable way to ask "Hey, do you guys happen to be in an open relationship?"
I don't (yet) have a formal impossibility proof...
I have a very good probabilistic algorithm for this question:
line 1: return "NO, OLA, THEY ARE NOT, FORGET IT";
It works for the vast majority of cases, but... it's so frustrating!! Grrrr!
People -- any ideas on a fast & socially acceptable deterministic algorithm?

UPDATE: Sometimes the obvious solution actually works... I simply smiled and said:
"I have a crush on you. Say, do you happen to have an open relationship?"
And you know what? I now think it was quite an acceptable thing to ask! [The answer, of course, was: "No... Sorry." :-( ]
