As I'm actually part of an industry that asks me to think of my customers also as potential terrorists, I think it blurs the distinction rather well.

At first I thought "trrrists" was meant as an amusing way to refer to "tourists." I quickly figured out what you were talking about.

While you're at it, you could talk about the millions of travelers who've had to remove their shoes because of one failed bomber.

I suspect there's no hurry to lift the restriction. Firstly because the article says "had to employ an additional 3500 screening staff" - there will be strikes and the usual unpleasantness if they have to be made redundant. Secondly, with our airports now increasingly concentrating on the post security "retail experience", I really can't see the likes of Boots, WH Smith, Easyjet etc who peddle grossly overpriced bottles of pop/water etc relinquishing their stranglehold over the thirsty traveller.

why lift the restriction when they can remind us that we can't trust ourselves let alone our families every time we travel.

Since they are now even trying to get full scans of our bodies to ensure we aren't smuggling things in they will probably wait until that is in place to ensure their jobs before they will release the liquids ban.
