...which was one of Eric Blair's inspirations. I've read it, it's good. Didn't stop Stalin, unfortunately.

I've just read One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Alexander Solzhenitsyn, whom I have just learned spent eight years in a labour camp after criticising Stalin in a letter to a friend - which may go some way to explaining why Russian writers didn't produce a 1984!
