do the right thing

It's tough to tell if I'm a nice guy or an asshole at times.

I remember part of Kill Bill part 2 where Bill is talking about superheroes and how of all the superheroes Superman was different. Of all the superheroes, they would become Batman, Spiderman, Iron Man and woke up every morning as whatever they started as. Superman was different because he woke up everyday as Superman, he was born Superman.

The interesting difference speaks a lot to human nature. Very few of are born Superman and tons of us wake up every morning trying to be something beyond human. We do this in many ways, but we're generally stuck unable to shed our humanity.

My question still revolves around how we push ourselves along to those amazing superhuman tasks and generally lose sense of what we need to be human.

We all have our wounds and pain in life, but it feels like as I have gotten older we have gotten into such a feel good world that no one cares to look at wounds, wash them or take care of them. It's a big world of fractured and broken people being tossed around in a manner that doesn't really let anyone heal or get better - we just sharpen like razor blades to destroy each other more.

Is this to say that no one should be sharp or rough with anyone? No. It is just we have to spend more time understanding that we could never be Superman and being Batman is only as good as when you don't have a broken heart that none of your gadgets can help.
