This morning I was in the garden by 7am. It was a great day for planting: overcast and misting. It had rained the night before, so the soil that the plants were going into was moist. The air temperature has been above 40F for most of the day. I mussed the soil up a bit in the beds and mixed in 3 cubic feet of composted cow manure. Here's what's in the ground:
- Garlic (planted last fall)
- Cabbage and Brussels Sprouts starts (although BS is a fall plant, I was too excited to see how it would grow. If all goes well, I'll plant more this fall.)
- Beet seed and Kale starts
- Pea seed (I had planned to put the peas with the garlic, but I read last night that that is a bad combination for the peas. So, after constructing the trellis, I moved it the bed that will contain tomatoes and herbs.)
- Swiss Chard, spinach and two types of lettuce seed
I also started purple and genovese basil.
Before planting, Leah and I gave thanks to God for the opportunity to have this garden and proceeded to plant in honor of Him from whom all blessings flow!
