I've think I've come to the realization, or if I've stated this before it's merely me reaffirming this belief, is a series of forks. Sometimes it contains multiple routes, like 3 or 4 choice, but most of the time it's simply yes or no, to do it or don't do it, etc. Each of these paths lead us down to another fork in which we are forced to make another decision. Sometimes the decision is clear, other times we spend hours deliberating on what will be the best choice. Unfortunately each path has it's ways of alluring you. Some may show you a nice easy beautiful path with little or no difficulty, but off in the distance lays a menacing hill. The other path shows a dark ingrown forest that will be much harder to navigate, and rather than show you a clearing that is beautiful and peaceful, rather it's covered in a fog. So you must ask yourself, do you take the chance at the beautiful clearing and navigate the dark woods, or do you take the easy way taking on the hill that you already know will become an issue down the road. Present obstacles for a possible future glory, or present day happiness for a future difficulty. The choice is never easy because one way or the other there will be some sort of difficulty and one sort of reward.
luckily there is another advantage to this system. Once a path is chosen that doesn't mean you'll never see it again, paths can cross once more. Unfortunately you have no idea when they cross or where they'll cross. Also you can never be sure as to which paths will actually cross. Unfortunately it's like a giant labyrinth, twist and turns everywhere and you struggle to get to one central location, that being happiness. We all chase happiness and we try to choose the paths that will bring us the most happiness. Unfortunately it all comes at a price, and the cost of it is never an easy decision.
So we're all on a journey, we have some aid, but mainly it's advice. People pushing you to one side or the other, but they don't walk the path with you. You eventually meet one person to journey with together. Your paths may cross more than once, but at one point you both meet and there is only one road ahead of you. It's at this time you know that it's time to journey together. The obstacles become harder, the roads become smoother, it becomes a joint journey.
So here's to that day, that's when we get closer to happiness, and it's what we're all searching for...
