Hello Kiddies,
Let's start off with our returning quotes of the day.
Happiness is nothing more than good health and a bad memory.
-- Albert Schweitzer (1875 - 1965)
Underneath this flabby exterior is an enormous lack of character.
-- Oscar Levant (1906 - 1972)
Every crowd has a silver lining.
-- Phineas Taylor Barnum (1810 - 1891)
.
Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so.
-- Douglas Adams (1952 - 2001)
The trouble about trying to make yourself stupider than you really are is that you very often succeed.
-- C. S. Lewis (1898 - 1963)
There was a sharp crisp wind yesterday morning indicating that TSOD2 (The Summer of Our Discontent Part 2) was coming to an end. Still things in the HSB have been mostly agreeable, which we'll stick with as our euphemism du jour. The last few weekends have been full of travel and adventure as only we can do it.
We headed up to Providence, Rhode Island, for the Geeky Kink Event New England 2 weeks ago. This was indeed groundbreaking as our love/hate relationship with New England is
well documented. This was my first trip there since our life exploding events two years ago and had more than a little trepidation. Still, it was mostly a good event with fun times and some interesting moments. Of course, it wouldn't be a New England trip if there were not some altering of life events in its aftermath. We'll get into that at a later time.
The weekend after, the red car was pointed in the other direction on 95 to the much more familiar sights of Washington, DC, where we met up with old friends at a Crucible "Reunion" event. I took some time to see Helen of course and the rapidly growing little person who gets bigger every time I see him. Somewhere in the middle of that, we managed to catch WWE SummerSlam, of which the less said the better. We might be seeing the WWE live again when they settle in NY/NJ for a pair of house shows next week.
While Voltaire said that a multitude of books made us ignorant, I'm thoroughly enjoying my new
Kindle Fire. One of the benefits of the color screen is being able to read graphic novels panel to panel. I got two volumes of
Classic GIJoe in short order, and on a daily deal, a very heart wrenching (and quite erotic) 'New Adult' romance titled '
Left Drowning.'
It's fitting since I'm drowning in certain other parts of my life that we won't get into here. I need to make that into a more personal entry perhaps under the filters.
Somewhere during the last few days, an ick caught up with me and I lost my voice. I'm not sounding like a frog for the first time in a few days but still can't hit any high notes. Speaking of, the music world is a chatter with
Miley Cyrus' performance on the VMAs Sunday night, I'll leave you with a piece of surreal from one of our favorite punk princesses.
