Year 23 and Year 20
Hello Kiddies,
Life in the HSB is limping merrily along in the humidity. It's almost a creeper vine's dream. Luckily we have air conditioning. Today is one of those magical dates in history. I celebrate (if that's the right word) 23 years on the job today. I'd feel better about it if work was going better but that's not a conversation for now. Speaking of celebrations, the historic day of me meeting KISS for the first time, just reached it's 20th anniversary. So much of that year was magical. It was when I really started coming into my own. Ah youth where did you go? :)
As is common for us bleeding old farts, I've been a big ol' bag o' stress lately. Work, finances, time, relationships, that plus more have been weighing heavily on my head. My solution for this was predictably to go into 'Garboesque' mode which was a lot easier when I was actually was alone. I have to watch it lest I end up that way again. I now have a woman and a cat depending on me and I can't let them down. Next week is TESFest and that's a whole other set of memories there! I remember the first TESFest we did 10 years ago. That and the following one were two of my favorite events and milestones in my life both 'professionally' and personally. Fun times. I see the event staffers now pulling their collective hair out and I'm almost jealous - almost. Of course to paraphrase Col. Taylor, we leave the service with no regrets. But here's one more thing, if anybody's listening that is. No of course they're not.
In less relevant news, I watched 5 minutes of the season premiere of True Blood, and found I was so far behind I didn't know anything that was going on, and cared surprisingly little. I'm thinking of catching up OnDemand or on Netflix but have to figure out where I left off. One of my broadcast faves bid adieu as the revival of 90210 came to an end. I'm now without my share of pretend drama. Next season I have to find another nighttime soap. I'm such a sucker for those. have been ever since Dynasty.
I had a few thoughts on a video for today but I'm stumped so here's KISS in what they were promoting at the time. This was the last full tour without makeup.
