Lie Upon Lie Upon Lie

Aug 01, 2007 15:00

I have to admit that as much as I try to keep up with Bush administration current events, I forget a lot of things and I get things confused. Especially when it concerns lie upon lie upon lie after lie upon lie. Has anyone else lost track of of our top law enforcement official's (Alberto Gonzales) multiple layers of lies as I have? I have also lost track of other Bush administration lies and crimes since they have just continued to mount, one on top of another. These are just two examples:

Pat Tillman Cover-up

Congress is investigating the cover-up of the friendly-fire death of Pat Tillman, the football player turned patriotic soldier. (Wasn't this investigated already and it was found that it WAS covered up? or is this still the same ongoing investigation?) Yet like herpes, we now have "retired" defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld returning today and testifying before Congress that there was no cover-up of the circumstances of Tillman's death.

According to CNN, Rumsfeld testified that he didn't recall precisely when he learned of Tillman's death, or the possibility that it was the result of fratricide.
Watch Rumsfeld testify there was no cover-up » Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Maryland, asked Rumsfeld how he could not have known that Tillman was killed by American troops.

Rumsfeld's answer is classic Rumsfeld: "You're talking about an institution of something like 3 million people -- active duty, reserve, guard, civilians, contractors," Rumsfeld said. "There are so many things going on in that department in any given year. ... It's like a city of 3 million people. It's not possible for someone to know all the things that are going on."

Does this sound true to you? Why do people put up with such bullshit answers like this?? Rumsfeld, when it's front page news blasted all over the place that this all-American football player turned soldier had been killed, you think you might not have heard about it? Huh?????? LIAR.

Ignored Subpoenas

Lt. Gen. Philip Kensinger, whom the secretary of the Army censured Tuesday for his handling of the military's investigation into Pat Tillman's death, was invited to testify, but Rep. Henry Waxman, the committee's chairman, said the general had refused to appear and had been subpoenaed but couldn't be located. Kensinger's attorney said he was away on business. If I just happened to be "away on business" the day of my subpoena to show up at Congress, does that mean I can just not show up?

I have lost track, but it seems that at this point several Bush administration people have refused to testify when they are subpoenaed by Congress. Harriet Miers, right? Justice department people. Darth Vader the vice-president, wasn't he subpoenaed? And now Karl Rove! What is being done about this? I know if I refused to comply with a subpoena, my life would become pretty unpleasant. Is anyone in Congress keeping track of this? Is Congress holding all of these Bush administration people in contempt? THIS IS WORSE THAN THE NIXON ADMINISTRATION!

(primal scream)
